Church History

SHIELD OF FAITH CHRISTIAN CENTER

In February of 1998, Pastor William and Pastor LaDawnna Hudson, began Bethany Christian Center. The name was inspired by the fact that Bethany meant outside of tradition and a place of mourning. Mourning for the lost. The Pastor felt the community had a need for a church that could provide help with family issues. The church was started in the home on 504 W. Manor Street, Chandler Arizona. That first year of ministry, God confirmed the ministry by saving souls weekly and establishing them well in the community. Many young people flocked to the ministry and a youth group was started to minister to their needs.

By 2000 we had moved the church to Frye Elementary School, many visitors and members were healed and delivered by the power of God and in the name of Jesus. God allowed us to establish a worship team and additional services were added to the schedule and leaders were appointed to handle God's business. God began teaching His people the importance of hard work, both spiritually and physically. Many prophecies came forth that the Lord would establish Bethany as a spiritual powerhouse in the East Valley; strategically placed to save souls for the kingdom of light.

Through God's divine leading, in 2001, Pastor William Hudson changed the name of the church to Shield of Faith Christian Center to closely align us with the Shield of Faith Fellowship of Churches International, our parent church. By our faith in God and the sacrifices of our leadership and saints, we stand before you a powerhouse set up by God, as Shield of Faith Christian Center of Arizona.

In 2010 we moved the church to 460 S. Country Club, Mesa, Arizona. We are excited about what God has done in years past taking the church from 2 people to over 120 people. Our church services consists of bible study, contemporary worship service, Christian education, Saturday youth service, children's church and much more. Under the dynamic leadership of Pastors William & LaDawnna Hudson, Shield of Faith is experiencing growth spiritually, economically and numerically and anxiously look forward to what God will do in the future.

Pastor William Hudosn has revealed the new theme for the year 2010 as "DO It For God!" which represents our purpose to do ministry throughout the community and this country. We know that with God all things are possible. We thank God for His wonderful works and faithfulness.

In Jesus Name,

Pastors William and LaDawnna Hudson
